Yesteryear Collection

The window boxes enabled customers for the first time to see the model they were buying without having to remove it from the box.
Due to the colour on the front, this type is known as Purple & Yellow and designated Type G. The boxes have blue inserts only.
Apart from the colour change to the front, the rear of the box showed a pictorial picture of the model as well as a description.

As with the F-type boxes the same variations can be found in the text printed below the ‘Matchbox’ logo and model description on the front of the G-type box.

Type 4: “MATCHBOX” AND “YESTERYEAR” ARE THE REGD T.M. OF LESNEY PRODUCTS & CO. LTD. LONDON ENGLAND (Note: This version also has the small "R" sign on the box top following "Yesteryear")

Collectors Note: The model designated Y2 did not appear in this range, but covered the rest up to Y16.
